Why I chose As media

Hey,

My name is Alicia and I am currently taking AS media. I eventually want to go on to University (my dream is Kingston University) and study media and new broadcasting. About 2 years ago I would take clips of a dance, from a popular dance show (Dance moms) and I would rearrange the sequence of the dance moves, add new music and effects to create a new piece of work. This is where my love for the media, editing and producing began. I eventually created an Instagram account where I showcased my edits and the account peaked at 2000 followers. I still enjoy to edit videos and photos regularly, and would love to create another account one day. 

The media industry fascinates me, I always think about how celebrities can do what they do (create original albums, star in blockbuster movies) and still have time to be in the spotlight, attend red carpet events, go on chat shows , promote themselves and their company and still have a personal life too. I also think how the people behind the scenes cope and how they don't mind not getting as much credit for their hard work; but I guess they do it because they love what they do. I would love to meet a producer or editor and just talk to them and see what it is really like, since this is what I want to do in my future. 

I studied media at GCSE and loved every second of it, so when I had the option to take it in Sixth form I knew I had to take it. One month into sixth form and I'm already in love with the subject, secretly I wish I could just do 5 hours of media each day.

So thats why I chose media and I can't wait to get stuck into the course.
